Softball Recap: Trinity Presbyterian Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game, Trinity Presbyterian was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They were the clear victor by an 11-3 margin over the Montgomery Catholic Knights. Considering the Wildcats have won three matches by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Marley Sharpless made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off 12 hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Harper Johnson was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Micaiah Shelton was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Trinity Presbyterian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Montgomery Catholic only posted a batting average of .281.

With the win, Trinity Presbyterian broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-5. As for Montgomery Catholic, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Trinity Presbyterian will challenge Stanhope Elmore at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Trinity Presbyterian will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Montgomery Catholic, they will square off against Glenwood at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
