Basketball Game Preview: PikeView Panthers vs. Bluefield Beavers

PikeView hasn't had much luck against Bluefield recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The PikeView Panthers will venture away from home to challenge the Bluefield Beavers at 7:30 p.m. Bluefield took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on PikeView, who comes in off a win.

PikeView is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Greenbrier West, posting a 77-44 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Meanwhile, Bluefield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a 51-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Princeton.

Bluefield's defeat dropped their record down to 2-18. As for PikeView, their win bumped their record up to 9-11.

PikeView didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Bluefield in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 62-58 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for PikeView since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
