Baseball Game Preview: Enterprise Bulldogs vs. Raleigh Lions

The Enterprise Bulldogs will face off against the Raleigh Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Raleigh's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Monday: Enterprise hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. Enterprise's pitcher stepped up to hand Sylva Bay Academy a 7-0 shutout on Friday. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by seven runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to Toby Thornhill's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Enterprise is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-7 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brody Smith, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Garrett Neal, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Raleigh can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They put the hurt on Discovery Christian with a sharp 11-3 win. Considering the Lions' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Enterprise's victory bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Raleigh, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.

Enterprise came out on top in a nail-biter against Raleigh in their previous matchup back in April of 2016, sneaking past 10-8. Does Enterprise have another victory up their sleeve, or will Raleigh turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
