Softball Recap: Winnebago Indians vs. Genoa-Kingston Cogs
After flying high against Byron on Friday, Winnebago came back down to earth. The Indians took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Genoa-Kingston Cogs on Monday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 21-3 back in April.
Winnebago's defeat dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Genoa-Kingston, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-13.
Coming up, Winnebago will square off against Galena at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Genoa-Kingston, they will take on Stillman Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cardinals' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Cogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
