Basketball Recap: Belleview Christian Comes Up Short

Belleview Christian played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Lyons Lions, falling 50-19. The Bruins were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-6.

When it comes to explaining why Belleview Christian lost, don't look at Faith Rosiere. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 boards. Rosiere is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Carol Lai also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Lyons' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ava Vasquez led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and 12 boards. Leora Hagan was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to five assists and five steals.

Belleview Christian has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for Lyons, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2.

Belleview Christian will host Gilpin County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gilpin County's defense has only allowed 28.1 points per game this season, so Belleview Christian's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Lyons, they are taking a road trip to square off against Dayspring Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
