Basketball Recap: Brookings Takes a Loss

Brookings's last matchup with Spearfish could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Saturday. The Brookings Bobcats came up short against the Spearfish Spartans, falling 69-47. The Bobcats were not able to make up for their loss to the Spartans from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Spearfish got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kamren Davis out in front who went 5-for-10 to rack up 21 points. The dominant performance gave Davis a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Kade Vavruska, who shot 42% from the field en route to 12 points along with six rebounds and three blocks.

Brookings' defeat dropped their record down to 1-19. As for Spearfish, their win bumped their record up to 13-7.

Brookings does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Spearfish, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Tea at 2:00 p.m. Spearfish is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.6 points per game this season.
