Softball Game Preview: Rockwood Tigers vs. Roane County Yellowjackets

The Rockwood Tigers will head out to take on the Roane County Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Rockwood lost 25-11 to Cumberland County on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Roane County took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Oliver Springs a 12-0 shutout.

Sailor Presley made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single hit, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Roane County let Reese Newman and Rhyan Henslee run wild. Newman scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Henslee scored two runs while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs Henslee has posted since back in April of 2024.

Rockwood might still be hurting after the 14-3 defeat they got from Roane County when the teams last played back in March of 2018. Can Rockwood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
