Basketball Recap: Ponte Vedra's Win Ends Three-Game Losing Streak at Home

Ponte Vedra won the last time they faced Nease, and Trace Westercamp did his part to make sure it happened again. The Ponte Vedra Sharks came out on top against the Nease Panthers by a score of 61-48 on Friday thanks in part to Westercamp, who went 8 for 12 on his way to 20 points in addition to eight boards and seven blocks. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (three).

Nease lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Luke Lindsay, who went 7 of 15 en route to 16 points and three steals. Lindsay is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Chase Phifer, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.

Ponte Vedra's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 15-8. As for Nease, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ponte Vedra will welcome Mainland at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Nease, they will square off against Bishop Kenny at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
