Softball Game Preview: Beekmantown Eagles vs. Plattsburgh Hornets

The Beekmantown Eagles will take on the Plattsburgh Hornets at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Beekmantown is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.

Beekmantown is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Saranac just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Monday. They fell 8-3 to the Spartans.

Lillian Perry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Madison Fessette was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Plattsburgh had taken Ticonderoga down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Wednesday. The Hornets lost 14-8 to the Sentinels. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Plattsburgh now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Beekmantown, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.

Everything went Beekmantown's way against Plattsburgh in their previous meeting back in April, as Beekmantown made off with a 12-6 victory. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
