Football Recap: Friday's Loss Ends Dawson's Winning Streak + How To Watch

Dawson dropped down to 7-3 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They took a 38-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Manvel Mavericks. The Eagles lost against the Mavericks in their previous head to head back in November of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 48-7 score last time.

Despite the loss, Dawson still got an impressive performance from Corey Brown, who rushed for 43 yards and three TDs. The Eagles also got a significant boost from Luke Brown, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 119 yards.

As for Manvel, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-3. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.0 points on average over those games.

Manvel got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kenneth Malone Hayes out in front who rushed for 108 yards and three scores on only nine carries. That's the most rushing yards Malone Hayes has posted since back in November of 2024. Eric Mosley III was another major influence, as he rushed for 116 yards and ran in a TD.

Dawson will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Ridge Point at 7:00 p.m. on the 13th. The Panthers' defense has only allowed 8.3 points per game this season, so the Eagles' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Manvel, they have already played their next matchup, a 31-18 victory against Dobie on the 7th.
