Soccer Game Preview: McLoughlin vs. Irrigon

McLoughlin is a perfect 8-0 against Irrigon since September of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Pioneers will face off against the Knights at 6:00 p.m.

McLoughlin is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Riverside just ended the team's six-match winning streak on Saturday. They fell 3-1 to the Pirates. McLoughlin fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against Riverside since Saturday.

Meanwhile, Irrigon got their first taste of in-conference action on Saturday and they started things off strong. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Four Rivers.

Irrigon's win bumped their record up to 3-8-2. As for McLoughlin, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 10-4.

Everything went McLoughlin's way against Irrigon when the teams last played back in September, as McLoughlin made off with an 8-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pioneers since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
