Hoover gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They blew past the Boardman Spartans 8-1. That's more bragging rights for the Vikings, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Roman Geiselman looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Matt Brown was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Nathan Spangler, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Hoover didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-4 defeat against Highland on the 29th. As for Boardman, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Harding at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be Boardman's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
