Football Recap: Spruce Mountain Starts off Right with Win over Bucksport

Spruce Mountain had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They claimed a resounding 38-8 win over the Bucksport Golden Bucks.

Dylan Jewett was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 183 yards and four TDs on only ten carries. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run.

Jewett was just one part of a punishing run game: Spruce Mountain was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 314 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 179 rushing yards in six consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Spruce Mountain will host Waterville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bucksport, they will welcome Washington Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup will give the Golden Bucks their first taste of in-conference action this season.
