Basketball Recap: Southeast Takes a Loss

After flying high against Guernsey-Sunrise last Tuesday, Southeast came back down to earth. The Southeast Cyclones fell 69-61 to Non Varsity Opponent on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (58), the Cyclones still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Southeast lost, don't look at Ayden Desmond. Despite the final result, he went 11-for-17 on his way to 26 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. Desmond continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Beaux Shimic, who went 7-for-14 en route to 16 points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Southeast smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive contests.

Southeast has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-10 record this season.

Southeast does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Non Varsity Opponent has already played their next game (against Tri-Valley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
