Recap: Poudre Impalas vs. Brighton Bulldogs
The Poudre Impalas's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They took a 53-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Brighton. Poudre was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Brighton apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Poudre's loss came despite strong showings from Luke Foster and Pierce Decker. Foster dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Decker dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Foster is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Brighton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Vance Martinez, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Martinez hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Austin Sickler, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds.
Poudre dropped their record down to 3-13 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Brighton, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-10.
Poudre will take on Boulder at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Boulder focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday. As for Brighton, they will head out on the road to challenge Legacy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Legacy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Brighton in Colorado (Legacy is ranked 50th, while Brighton is ranked 215th).
