Football Game Preview: Henderson Lions vs. Mabank Panthers + How To Watch

The Henderson Lions will head out to challenge the Mabank Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Henderson is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Kilgore just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They received a blow as they fell 27-12 to the Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 230th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 40th).

Meanwhile, Mabank played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 64-8 defeat at the hands of Pine Tree. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-8.

Mabank now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Henderson, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Henderson has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 190.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Mabank struggles in that department as they've been averaging 275 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Henderson didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Mabank in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 14-10 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
