Baseball Recap: St. Mary Beats Christian Fellowship for Their Eighth Straight Win

St. Mary put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the Christian Fellowship Eagles 22-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Vikings also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2023.

Kolson Durbin and Andrew Puckett made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Durbin pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Puckett pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Durbin has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Durbin scored two runs while going 1-for-1, while Puckett scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, St. Mary let Luke Sims and Brett Haas run wild. Sims went 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs, while Haas scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those four RBI gave Sims a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Skylar Padon, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

St. Mary always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .871. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

St. Mary pushed their record up to 8-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Christian Fellowship, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Mary will host Livingston Central at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Christian Fellowship, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on South Fulton at 5:30 p.m. on the 17th.
