Basketball Game Preview: Mariemont Warriors vs. Madeira MUSTANGS/AMAZONS

The Mariemont Warriors will head out to challenge the Madeira MUSTANGS/AMAZONS at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mariemont has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 189 points over their last three contests.

On Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Mariemont beat Taylor 58-53. The win was all the more spectacular given the Warriors' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 342nd, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 128th).

Meanwhile, Madeira posted their closest victory since February 9, 2024 on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged Indian Hill out 51-48. The win almost wasn't to be: the MUSTANGS/AMAZONS were down 28-14 in the second quarter.

The victory (which was Madeira's third in a row) raised their record to 8-6. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Mariemont, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7.

Mariemont didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Madeira when the teams last played back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 46-40 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mariemont since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
