Softball Recap: Cannon Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

There's no place like home for Cannon, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Providence Day Chargers 5-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-1 on April 8th.

The team relied heavily on Layla Wagner, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.

Cannon has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-6-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Providence Day, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.
