They put the hurt on Northern Nash with a sharp 57-33 victory on Friday. With Roanoke Rapids ahead 33-12 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Roanoke Rapids' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Darren Solomon led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. The matchup was Solomon's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Thomas Shabazz was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six assists and three steals.
Roanoke Rapids' victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Northern Nash, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Roanoke Rapids will take on Rocky Mount at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Northern Nash won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Clayton at 1:00 p.m. on January 6th. Clayton is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 58.8 points per game.
