The St. Johns Country Day Spartans will square off against the University Christian Christians at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
St. Johns Country Day is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Eagle's View 23-13 last Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.
Jai Mei Kemp made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Megan Jeffers, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 3.2 RBI per game. Another player making a difference was Caden Brown, who went 2-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one double.
St. Johns Country Day always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .574. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, University Christian put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Bishop Snyder a 10-0 shutout. That's two games straight that the Christians have won by exactly ten runs.
Like St. Johns Country Day, University Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Dixie Tessier. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. Tessier was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Elissa Murdock was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Sinai Tunsill was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
St. Johns Country Day's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for University Christian, they pushed their record up to 9-0 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. St. Johns Country Day hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. However, it's not like University Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .420. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
