Baseball Game Preview: Lakeview Wildcats vs. Morley Stanwood Mohawks

For the second straight game, Lakeview will face off against Morley Stanwood. The Wildcats are taking a road trip to challenge the Mohawks at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Lakeview will bounce into Wednesday's contest after beating Morley Stanwood, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Wildcats blew past the Mohawks 13-3 on Monday.

Boston Syrjala spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on eight hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jack Peasley was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with eight RBI, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Lakeview's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-10 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Bunker, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Lakeview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .651. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in five consecutive matchups.

Morley Stanwood has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Lakeview, their victory bumped their record up to 8-10.

Lakeview's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's contest. The Wildcats have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game.
