Preview: Charleston Tigers vs. North Side Gators
The Charleston Tigers will be playing at home against the North Side Gators at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, everything came up roses for Charleston on the road against O'Bannon as the squad secured a 40-8 victory. With Charleston ahead 34-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Quentin Carter and Marcus Flowers jr were among the main playmakers for Charleston as the former rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown on only six carries and the latter rushed for 93 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Deondre Riley was in the mix as well, providing Charleston with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, North Side had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They blew past Riverside 42-0 at home. Given North Side's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 124th, while Riverside is ranked 249th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Charleston has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for North Side, their win was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-1.
Charleston strolled past North Side in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 by a score of 34-18. Will Charleston repeat their success, or does North Side have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
