Softball Game Preview: Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy Tigers vs. Master's Academy Patriots

The Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy Tigers will venture away from home to face off against the Master's Academy Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy has given up an average of 14 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 16 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Melbourne Central Catholic on Tuesday. They lost 22-1 to the Hustlers. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Hustlers: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, Master's Academy had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They beat the Jaguars by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 16-1. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won four matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Nola Matz looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Master's Academy let Elyanah DeCosta and Gia Gasbarro run wild. DeCosta scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while Gasbarro scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Emma Jacobs also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Master's Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in four consecutive games.

Master's Academy's record now sits at 5-1. As for Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Everything went Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy's way against Master's Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy made off with an 11-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
