Softball Recap: Southern Lee Comes Up Short

Southern Lee extended their losing streak to ten on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 2-14 in the process. They lost 15-0 to the Union Pines Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-2 back in March.

As for Union Pines, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games.

For Union Pines' part, Kaitlyn Blue looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Blue has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Union Pines got a massive performance out of Kileigh Cameron, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Haven Patterson was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Southern Lee has already played their next match, a 16-10 loss against Lee County on the 24th. As for Union Pines, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-2 victory against Pinecrest on the 24th.
