Softball Recap: Boone Grove Wolves vs. Wheeler Bearcats        
        
		
            
 Boone Grove lost to Wheeler  back in May of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Boone Grove Wolves came out on top against the Wheeler Bearcats by a score of  5-1.
 The team  relied heavily on  Olivia Treece, who  went 1-for-1 with a  home run, two  runs,  and two  RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of  Emily Veschak, who  went 2-for-3 with a  home run and two  runs.
 On Wheeler's side,  Clara Phariss was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out eight batters over  six innings while giving up  four earned  (and one unearned) runs off   eight  hits (and only one walk). Phariss has been consistent recently: she hasn't  tossed less than six  strikeouts in seven consecutive pitching appearances. Phariss was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-3 with a  home run.
 Phariss wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Megan Vincent, who  went 2-for-2 with a  double.
 Boone Grove is  on a roll lately: they've  won ten of their last 11 matches,  which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record  this season. As for Wheeler, they are  on  a  three-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 7-7.
 Boone Grove will head out on the road to  face off against  Westville at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday. Westville is on a five-game streak of home wins, Boone Grove a six-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field. Wheeler will take on Lowell at 4:45  p.m.  on Thursday.
