Softball Game Preview: Buena Colts vs. Nogales Apaches

For the second straight game, Buena will face off against Nogales. The Colts will face off against the Apaches at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Buena is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Nogales a 17-0 shutout on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Colts needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Ariella Antemann was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Amaya Serrano was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Morgan Smith, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2.

Buena always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Nogales has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Buena, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-16.
