Basketball Game Preview: Piketon Redstreaks vs. Westfall Mustangs

Piketon and Westfall are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Piketon Redstreaks will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Westfall Mustangs at 7:15 p.m. The two teams were dealt some close losses in their previous games and are determined not to let this one get away.

Piketon is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Logan Elm just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Braves by a score of 55-53. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Redstreaks have suffered since February 1, 2024.

Meanwhile, Westfall didn't have quite enough to beat Fisher Catholic on Monday and fell 36-34. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 425th, while the Irish are ranked 179th).

Westfall has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Piketon, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-5.

Piketon was able to grind out a solid victory over Westfall in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, winning 41-32. Will Piketon repeat their success, or does Westfall have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
