Baseball Game Preview: Steinbrenner Warriors vs. Gaither Cowboys

The Steinbrenner Warriors will face off against the Gaither Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Steinbrenner 3.6, Gaither 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Last Thursday, Steinbrenner didn't have quite enough to beat Sumner and fell 6-5.

Steinbrenner got a good showing from Jackson Winterberg, who kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Winterberg has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Nick Osborne made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Gaither came tearing into Wednesday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Chargers a 1-0 shutout.

Matt Altman tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over six innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Gaither saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was David Pina, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Gaither's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Steinbrenner, their loss dropped their record down to 14-11.
