Softball Recap: Sweet Home Comes Up Short

Sweet Home had lost six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 0-5 to make it seven. They fell just short of the Hamburg Bulldogs by a score of 15-13. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 12-10 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Hamburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games.

For Hamburg's part, Mackayla Musty was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and four runs while going 5-for-5. With that strong performance, Musty is now averaging an impressive 2.2 runs per game. Another player making a difference was Madison Ferro, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and one triple.

Coming up, Hamburg will square off against Williamsville South at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sweet Home will be paying especially close attention to the Bulldogs' game: after the Bulldogs face off against the Billies, they'll take on Sweet Home again at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
