Basketball Recap: Seminole Takes a Loss

Seminole and Lake Mary squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Seminole had to settle for second. They took a 52-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lake Mary Rams. The game marked the Seminoles' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Seminole lost, don't look at Jorden Pittman. Despite the final result, he went 6 for 14 en route to 14 points and five steals. Pittman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Markel Barber was another key player, putting up seven points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lake Mary to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jack Schulz-Perry, who posted 13 points and six rebounds. What's more, Schulz-Perry also racked up three assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Owen Ceynowa, who went 6 of 11 to rack up 17 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Seminole and nudges their season record down to 13-11. As for Lake Mary, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-13 record this season.

Looking ahead, Seminole will take on University at 7:00 p.m. on February 12th. One thing working in University's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games. As for Lake Mary, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 63-36 victory against Spruce Creek on the 7th.
