Volleyball Game Preview: Ashland Oredockers vs. Lakeland Thunderbirds

The Ashland Oredockers will head out to face off against the Lakeland Thunderbirds at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Ashland lost 3-0 to Cameron on Thursday. The Oredockers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Ashland was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The final score came out to 26-24, 25-9, 25-5.

Meanwhile, Lakeland didn't have quite enough to beat Stratford on Thursday and fell 3-2. The loss continues a trend for the Thunderbirds in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost three in a row.

Lakeland wouldn't go down easily and took Stratford into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking five-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 16-25, 25-16, 25-18, 17-25, 15-10.

Ashland's defeat dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Lakeland, their loss dropped their record down to 19-12.

Everything went Ashland's way against Lakeland when the teams last played back in October of 2019, as Ashland made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Oredockers since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
