Basketball Recap: Zachary Starts Season with Win Against Slidell

Zachary took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Slidell Tigers 75-38. The win was familiar territory for the Broncos, who have now won six matchups in a row dating back to last season.

Zachary's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ian Edmond led the charge by putting up 15 points and four steals. What's more, Edmond also posted a 43% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in January. Another player making a difference was Mason Newman, who posted nine points and five boards.

Slidell dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Zachary will take on Parkway at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Slidell, they will head out to square off against French Settlement at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
