Softball Recap: San Lorenzo Comes Up Short

San Lorenzo had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 2-15 to make it five. They lost 14-0 to the Arroyo Dons. Having soared to a lofty 25 runs in the game before, the Grizzlies' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Arroyo, the win got them back to even at 7-7. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

For Arroyo's part, Ariana Rocha was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Rocha has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Hailey Howard was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Aaliyah Wadley also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Looking ahead, San Lorenzo will take on Ygnacio Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Grizzlies are facing the Wolves at the right time seeing as the Wolves are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Arroyo, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 9-1 victory against Kennedy on the 30th.
