Basketball Recap: Southern Wake Academy Lions vs. Ascend Leadership Aviators
In what's become a running theme this season, the Southern Wake Academy Lions gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They claimed a resounding 71-19 victory over Ascend Leadership on the road. Given Southern Wake Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 217th, while the Aviators are ranked 685th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Southern Wake Academy found their leader in underclassman Kobe Plata, who scored 14 points along with eight steals and six assists. Chris Crudup was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with two steals.
Southern Wake Academy has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. As for Ascend Leadership, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-12.
Southern Wake Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against the Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ascend Leadership, they will head out on the road to face off against the Wolves at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
