Baseball Recap: Three Straight Home Victories for Carrollwood Day

Carrollwood Day won the last time they faced Cambridge Christian and things went their way on Tuesday too. Carrollwood Day came out on top against Cambridge Christian by a score of 6-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Patriots.

Gabe Troya tossed a big game, pitching 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Carrollwood Day let Julian Earle and Allen Soriano run wild. Earle scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Soriano scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those two runs gave Soriano a new career-high. Ashton Brown also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Carrollwood Day pushed their record up to 12-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Cambridge Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carrollwood Day will head out to square off against Berkeley Prep at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Carrollwood Day 3.2, Berkeley Prep 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Cambridge Christian, they will challenge Bell Creek Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
