Basketball Game Preview: Denmark-Olar Vikings vs. Bethune-Bowman Mohawks

Two dominant forwards in Joshua Goodman and Terreance McFadden are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Denmark-Olar Vikings will face off against the Bethune-Bowman Mohawks at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Denmark-Olar is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They blew past Carvers Bay 71-33. The Vikings are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 13 straight.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Denmark-Olar to victory, but perhaps none more so than Goodman, who dropped a double-double with 26 points and 11 rebounds. What's more, Goodman also posted a 75% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. Robert Bovain was another key player, dropping a double-double with 18 points and ten boards.

Denmark-Olar smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 24 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Bethune-Bowman waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They claimed a resounding 73-39 victory over the Raiders. Given the Mohawks' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while the Raiders are ranked 258th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bethune-Bowman's win was their 25th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.2 points over those games. As for Denmark-Olar, their record is now 18-5.

Denmark-Olar strolled past Bethune-Bowman when the teams last played back in December of 2022 by a score of 50-35. Does Denmark-Olar have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bethune-Bowman turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
