Preview: Argyle Eagles vs. Wyatt Chaparrals
The Argyle Eagles will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Wyatt Chaparrals at 7:00 p.m. Argyle has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 392 points over their last seven games.
Argyle stacked a sixth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They beat Creekview by the very same score they won with last week: 59-0. Given Argyle's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while Creekview is ranked 878th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Argyle to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jake Krekeler, who rushed for 80 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries, and also caught a touchdown. Maguire Gasperson was another key contributor, throwing for 177 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 passes.
Meanwhile, Wyatt came up short against Colleyville Heritage on Thursday and fell 28-21.
Argyle pushed their record up to 8-2 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 51 points. As for Wyatt, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.
Everything came up roses for Argyle against Wyatt when the teams last played back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 63-0 win. Does Argyle have another victory up their sleeve, or will Wyatt turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
