Softball Recap: Annenberg Panthers vs. Central City Value Jaguars
Annenberg had lost five straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 1-4 to make it six. They lost 18-3 to the Central City Value Jaguars. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 21-7 to the Jaguars when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Central City Value, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-3. The result was nothing new for the Jaguars, who have now won four matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
For Central City Value's part, they got a massive performance out of Mercedes Ponce, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs Ponce has posted since back in April of 2024. Esther De Leon also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Annenberg will welcome Animo Bunche at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers are facing the Stallions at the right time seeing as the Stallions are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Central City Value, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Downtown Magnets at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The Suns have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 23.33 runs per game on average), something the Jaguars will no doubt try to take advantage of.
