Softball Game Preview: Verbena Red Devils vs. Dallas County Hornets

The Verbena Red Devils will venture away from home to take on the Dallas County Hornets at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Verbena is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 13-12 heartbreaker at the hands of Isabella.

Meanwhile, Dallas County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 21-5 to Isabella.

Karrigan Watts made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Kensley Browder, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Dallas County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Verbena, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 0-2.

Everything went Verbena's way against Dallas County when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Verbena made off with an 11-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Verbena since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
