Football Recap: Thomas Jefferson Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Thomas Jefferson can now relate to. They took a 20-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Armstrong (Kennedy) Wildcats on Friday. The matchup was a 7-7 toss-up at halftime, but the Vikings couldn't quite close it out.

Despite the loss, Thomas Jefferson still got an impressive performance from Daeron Ferguson, who rushed for 145 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Ferguson's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 119 rushing yards. Thomas Jefferson also got help from Isaiah Harris, who showed off his sure hands for 81 receiving yards.

Armstrong (Kennedy)'s win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Anthony Hansom, who threw for 142 yards and one touchdown on only 13 passes, and also rushed for 38 yards. Another player making a difference was Shadarus Pickett, who rushed for 56 yards and one score.

Thomas Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Armstrong (Kennedy), the victory keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.

Thomas Jefferson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Armstrong (Kennedy), they will take on Poquoson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Islanders' defense has only allowed 8.6 points per game this season, so the Wildcats' offense will have their work cut out for them.
