Basketball Recap: West Springfield Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

West Springfield's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They enjoyed a cozy 54-37 win over the Lake Braddock Bruins. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while the Bruins are ranked 265th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

West Springfield now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Lake Braddock, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-17.

West Springfield won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Fairfax at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lake Braddock, they will also get right back to it: they'll face off against Robinson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Robinson will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something Lake Braddock surely won't give up without a fight.
