Football Game Preview: Chalmette Owls vs. Salmen Spartans + Official Tickets

The Chalmette Owls will head out on the road to challenge the Salmen Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Chalmette's defense has only allowed 14 points per game this season, so Salmen's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Chalmette fought the good fight in their overtime game against Slidell on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 36-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Owls, who until this matchup were averaging 14 points allowed.

Despite the defeat, Chalmette got top-tier performance from Breez Wilson, who rushed for 130 yards and one touchdown on only 14 carries, and also threw for 186 yards and three TDs. Wilson's longest rush was for an impressive 51 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Chalmette's leading receiver Dana Antoine Jr was Wilson's top target yet again, picking up 87 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Meanwhile, Salmen started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Hammond. They lost 40-20 to the Tornadoes on Friday. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Tornadoes recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Salmen's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Chalmette, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-3.

Chalmette didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Salmen in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, but they still walked away with a 34-28 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Spartans' Tayshawn Scott, who picked up 128 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 50 yards and one touchdown.
