Baseball Recap: Arlington's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

Arlington came into Friday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Richland Royals on Friday. This was payback for the Colts, who suffered an 8-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Mason Hensley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Arlington is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 2-6 otherwise. Hensley was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Arlington let Matthew Nguyen and Yadir Gamez run wild. Nguyen scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Gamez scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden White, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Arlington hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Richland struck out seven times.

Arlington's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Richland, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 6-6 record.

Coming up, Arlington will challenge Lake Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Richland, they will take on Mansfield at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Mansfield will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Richland surely won't give up without a fight.
