Football Recap: Woodruff Wolverines vs. Pendleton Bulldogs

Woodruff had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 28-21 win over the Pendleton Bulldogs on Friday. The 28-point effort marked the Wolverines' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Woodruff found their leader in sophomore Aiden Gibson, who rushed for 108 yards and two touchdowns. Gibson's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 101 rushing yards. The team also got some help courtesy of TJ Morris, who threw for 176 yards and two touchdowns.

Pendleton's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bray Spear, who rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown. Those 110 rushing yards gave Spear a new career-high. Dashaun Jenkins also helped out as he racked up 103 rushing yards.

The victory (which was Woodruff's fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 22.2 points. As for Pendleton, their record is now 4-6.

Woodruff will square off against Powdersville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Powdersville is coming into the contest with five straight wins at home, so Woodruff will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. Pendleton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
