Baseball Recap: Montgomery Victorious

While Montgomery's win against Scripps Ranch wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Montgomery never let Scripps Ranch get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Monday. That's more bragging rights for the Aztecs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Not much got past Jesus Cano, who gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Scripps Ranch off the board. Cano also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Montgomery is undefeated when he allows at most three earned runs, but 1-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Montgomery saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marco Reyes, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was Reyes' first of the season.

The win got Montgomery back to even at 4-4. As for Scripps Ranch, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Looking ahead, Montgomery will take on Point Loma at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Point Loma's pitching crew has only allowed 2.1 runs per game this season, so Montgomery's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Scripps Ranch, they will face off against Bonita Vista at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Scripps Ranch is facing Bonita Vista at the right time seeing as Bonita Vista is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
