Baseball Recap: Hoover Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Hoover, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Field Falcons by a score of 6-1 on Friday.

Evan Fuller looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ryan Cervenak, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Hoover's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-7 when he doesn't). Ryan Wilkinson also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

Hoover was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

Hoover's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Field, they moved to 10-4 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hoover will host Avon at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Field, they will challenge Salem at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Falcons are facing the Quakers at the right time seeing as the Quakers are stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
