Basketball Recap: Carolina Christian Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Carolina Christian had to endure a 13-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 55-53 victory over the Covenant Classical Warriors on Monday. This was payback for the Lions, who suffered a 46-18 loss the last time these two teams met.

Lola Wilson had a dynamite game for Carolina Christian, putting up 33 points. Taelynn Austin was another key player, posting 11 points.

Covenant Classical lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Reece Morro, who posted 22 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Those 22 points gave Morro a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Trinity Creason, who almost dropped a triple-double on 11 points, 11 boards, and nine assists.

The win got Carolina Christian back to even at 1-1. As for Covenant Classical, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-2.

Carolina Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 0-0 loss against Sugar Creek Charter on the 10th. As for Covenant Classical, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 44-30 victory against The Fletcher School on the 10th.
