Baseball Game Preview: North Schuylkill Spartans vs. Shikellamy Braves

North Schuylkill is a perfect 5-0 against Shikellamy since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. North Schuylkill will head out on the road to face off against Shikellamy at 11:00 a.m. North Schuylkill is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak dating back to last season.

North Schuylkill managed to slip by Blue Mountain the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. North Schuylkill lost 11-4 to Blue Mountain on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Spartans have suffered since May 2, 2024.

Chase Slotcavage put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. Slotcavage was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

In other batting news, Kevin Jones made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Shikellamy was a bit more limited in their matchup on Wednesday. They came up short against Mifflinburg, falling 11-2. The Braves haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Shikellamy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chayse Snyder, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

North Schuylkill's record now sits at 0-3. As for Shikellamy, their record is now 1-1.

Everything went North Schuylkill's way against Shikellamy when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as North Schuylkill made off with an 11-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for North Schuylkill since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
