Basketball Recap: Spring Hill Comes Up Short

Spring Hill played a tough game on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Ottawa Cyclones, falling 62-38. The Broncos were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-14.

Despite the defeat, Spring Hill saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jackson Bruce went 5-for-11 to rack up 10 points and seven boards. The dominant performance also gave Bruce a new career-high in assists (four). Braden Brenner also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assists of the season.

Spring Hill's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Ottawa, the win keeps them at an undefeated 17-0.

Coming up, Spring Hill will be playing in front of their home fans against Paola at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Spring Hill is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.7 points per game this season. As for Ottawa, they will square off against Baldwin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Baldwin is on a four-game streak of home wins, Ottawa a nine-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
